Happy New Year to all...may it be a year of blessings, bold innovation and tolerance for our fellow human being.Peace and love should be the main wish for this year.Having witnessed the wars in the Islamic countries the past years the only wish would be that. But it seems 2015 was to start out in the bloodiest of ways.15 people executed in cold blood.15 people dead for being part of a satyrical magazine that dared to provoke through rather controversial cartoons in some of which the prophet Muhammad was the protagonist.
So, I can accept the Muslim world was insulted. But to let this feeling of insult become a war for the taking out of the "infidels",to get to the point to take human lives in the name of a prophet who stood by the principles of love and unity, is a paradox which the history of humanity is full of. I am utterly appaled at the atrocities that have been commited by humans in the name of God or one of his prophets. The Paris shooting was a modern day example of what happens when we use God or a prophet to serve as a means to political ends or to terrorise to silence voices and opinions that don't serve us.Let's not forget the Crusades, which lasted about 500 years (from 1095 to 1571) and whose sole purpose was to "deliver the Holy Places from Mohammedan tyranny.Sounds familiar, right? The Muslim fanatics terrorise with the pretext of defending their faith, avenging the Prophet.More blood has been spilled on the soil of our planet in the name of religion than for any other cause. So many lives lost because the religious leaders had the audacity to presume to know what other nations/people ought to believe in or how they should worship God.The leaders of the various religions globally, especially the Christians and the Muslims, believe they have some God-given right to impose their beliefs on other nations, to try to convert the infidels to the true faith. But,pray tell,WHICH is the TRUE religion? Is it Christianity?Islam?Buddhism? The various side branches of each religion perhaps or their heresies? To be honest,I never had any trust in any organised religion.Does that make me an infidel?I don't know. All I know is the facts.Organised religions brainwash, terrorise and dictate by fear how their congregation should behave. What is right and what is wrong. What is a sin and virtue by their man-made dogmas. No wonder so many people can be recruited to kill unthinkingly and ruthlessly another human being for having a different faith.Puppets is what an organised religion needs, God-fearing followers(emphasis on fearing). The more fear, the better.Jesus said"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself",right? So, where can this be seen in the bloodbaths we are witnessing?Even in 2015, the 21st century, when biology and technology flourish, the human race is still susceptible, if not more so, to brainwashing. It's even more dangerous now, with the speed information is racing globally. It's just a matter of seconds.God-fearing followers, can still pick up an automatic gun and execute blindly,in the name of religion- or should I say in the name of a power-hungry,dogmatic religious leader. The one thing I always knew for sure, apart from the nauseating facts, is that God is love.I always believed in Him.He was there for me in my darkest hours. But God is Love.God is Tolerance and Empathy for your fellow human and all livingthings on this planet. It's Respect for our Mother Earth, which we continue to disrespect through our negligence.God is Love for ALL.It's not a God of fear, terrorism, dogma or tyranny or subject to people's lust for power. He can not fit into any religion because He's beyond all religions. Education is a key factor in this matter. The way children are taught and WHAT they are taught is of vital importance.Children should be allowed to think freely about the subject of faith, God and be taught to respect other people's beliefs.Children should not be taught to be the passive recipients of doctrines and dogmas but rather be allowed to doubt, raise questions and form an opinion that belongs to them, not one that came out of a book someone wrote. There's lots to be discussed on this subject. But I'll let it rest for today. I'll wish all of you an amazing 2015.May this be the year when you become all you can be and more! With love and light, Lia |
